About

Hey, I’m Mike Caplano — digital nomad and the guy behind BnBDetector.com.

Right now I’m living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia… in an apartment with an Airbnb unit right upstairs. And honestly? I hate it.

It’s not that I hate people. I just hate the constant churn. New faces every single day. Suitcases rolling in at 2 AM. Laughter, shouting, music, doors slamming. And every time I go upstairs and ask politely, “Hey, could you keep it down?” the answer is always the same:

“Oh sorry, we just moved in today. It’s Airbnb.”

And then tomorrow… new people. Same story.

You can’t really stop it. That’s the truth. But you can be smarter about choosing where you rent long‑term. Which, honestly, I wish I had done.

That’s why I built BnBDetector.com. At first, just for myself. To avoid ending up in another building where elevators take 20 minutes because they stop on every floor. Where the pool feels more like a public water park. Where packages go missing because literally anyone with a one‑night booking can wander into the residential area.

It sucks. And I don’t want you to go through it.

BnBDetector.com isn’t magic. It won’t guarantee silence and birdsong outside your window every morning. But it can give you an edge. It can help you find the calmer spots — the buildings where people actually live, not just pass through. Whether you’re renting long‑term, retiring somewhere new, buying an apartment or just trying to work from home in peace… it’s a tool that can help you to avoid the mess I’m living in.

So yeah — that’s my story. And my small attempt to make apartment hunting a little less painful for people like us.

Thanks for reading. And may your next place be so quiet, the loudest thing you hear is your fridge humming.
